Whether you’re visiting or a new resident of Autumnwood, make sure to celebrate the season Sanford style! It kicks off with the Depot Park Christmas Tree and Train Lighting on Dec. 1 followed by these fun activities:
Sparkles & Spirits Holiday Festival—Over 50 artisans will exhibit their work Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center. While entry is free, any funds donated will support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina. There is a $10 fee for the Brew and Wine Tasting, and its first 600 attendees will get a commemorative wine or beer glass.
Downtown Holiday Punch Card—From now until Christmas Eve, you can #ShopSmallforSanford and save money too. Get a punch card at more than 25 participating downtown businesses, and every $10 you spend at these locations gets your punch card stamped. Fill up your card with $50, and you get entered to win great prizes while you appreciate Sanford’s diverse local offerings.
Sanford Christmas Parade—Santa Claus is coming to town on Monday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. as part of this tradition organized by the Central Carolina Jaycees. This free event starts at the corner of Carthage and Wicker streets, heads east on Wicker, turns north onto Steele Street, then west onto Carthage, and ends back at Wicker.
A Christmas Carol at Temple Theatre—This spectacular adaptation of Charles Dicken’s classic tale runs from now until Dec. 17 Thursdays and Fridays at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 7:30 and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $15-$27. Located at 114 Carthage St., Temple Theatre also hosts The Magic of Christmas concert with the Lee County Orchestra and Temple Teen Ensemble on Dec. 5 and Sweet Potato Pie’s Homegrown Christmas with an all-female band on Dec. 12 that may be of interest as well.
Story Hour at Karma Boutique—This free event occurs year-round every Wednesday, but this time of the year for families to be together makes it especially nice for children of all ages. We will read stories, sing songs, do crafts and enjoy each other’s company while you sit and sip on delicious coffee and partake in some adult conversation. This will occur Dec. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 10-11 a.m.
