Spring is here in full bloom, but some of us may have slacked on the cleaning. Since it is the season of open doors and windows, back porch get-togethers, and friendly gatherings, we collected a few tips you can use to get your house organized and presentable after holing up for the winter.

Ship Out Your Clutter

With the emergence of Netflix’s show “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo,”  2019 has become the official year of decluttering. Get rid of anything that you rarely use. Go through your computer desk, your closets, your junk drawers. Find those items that were just thrown out of sight and finally get rid of them. Not only does this give you peace of mind and a sense of calm, but it can open up those spaces for things you actually use, allowing you to have more open space in your home for friends and family.

Remove Allergens

It’s the time of year when seasonal allergies start acting up, so get a jump start by dusting all the surfaces in your home. Make sure you remember to remove and replace HVAC filters as well, which can become blocked with detritus and allergens from the air. For that matter, you may want to purchase an air purifier to ensure that your home is breathable and pleasant for guests and family members with allergies.

Remember to Clean Bathroom Fixtures

One often overlooked part of spring cleaning is bringing a new vibrancy to fixtures like showerheads, drains, and faucets. For sink faucets, your household baking soda can work to remove grime and buildup. We suggest soaking showerheads in vinegar to get rid of unsightly mineral buildup as well. A fresh-looking bathroom is essential for hosting guests.

Wipe Off Your Screens

In the modern era, screens are everywhere. We watch Netflix on our televisions, send emails on our computers, and carry around tablets and phones for communication and entertainment. When you’re spring cleaning this year, don’t forget to take a polish rag (or a coffee filter, if you don’t have a polish rag) and remove those fingerprints and smears to restore your screens to clarity.

Good luck with your spring cleaning this year. If you have any other questions, get in touch with our offices here.
