One of the major perks of living in Autumnwood is that our community is close to larger cities, but it’s tucked away in a quaint, quiet locale that is perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of city life. Perhaps even more importantly, our town is known for being a bastion of the South’s legendary hospitality. Nowhere is that more evident than in our family-friendly eateries. Below are a few Sanford restaurants that are perfect for the whole family!

The Fairview Dairy Bar

109 Carbonton Rd.

With an interior that calls to mind the diners of a simpler time, The Fairview Dairy Bar is a great spot for relaxing with an old-fashioned milkshake and enjoying time together with your kids. The restaurant is known for its delicious breakfast foods, but it also features a full menu with everything from southern delicacies like deep-fried pickles to its Famous Banana Pudding. Reviewers note the speed and friendliness of the staff as well. Of course, it wouldn’t be a family restaurant without a kid’s menu that includes staples like chicken fingers and grilled cheese.

The Flame Steakhouse

109 Carbonton Rd.

Located next door to The Fairview Dairy Bar is The Flame Steakhouse. A bit more elegant, the restaurant features a pricier menu than some of the other family-oriented restaurants in town. However, that doesn’t stop the locals from ranking it among the best eateries in the area. Seafood and steak options are available for adults and kids alike, with pickier children able to select some of the usual fare, such as chicken fingers and Spaghettios. If you’re looking for a place to host visiting adult family members, the steakhouse has a Brewer’s Lounge that serves specialty cocktails and a selection of more than 60 craft beers.

Mrs. Lacy’s Magnolia House

405 Carthage St.

Mrs. Lacy’s Magnolia House is a unique restaurant and tea room located in the century-old home of Sanford’s first pediatrician. Aside from the historical importance of the restaurant, its menu features delicious items like Reuben sandwiches, various quiches, and a special house-made dessert called Hershey Bar Cake. Mrs. Lacy’s Magnolia House is available for events like birthday parties and children’s tea parties. It even offers children’s etiquette classes for little “misses and masters.”
